Social distancing in education to be reduced from two to one metre
View email online | | | | | Jun 18, 2020 | | | | | | Good afternoon everyone Planned further relaxations of the lockdown in Northern Ireland were revealed by the Stormont Executive on Thursday. For those of us who have been waiting for a haircut (and there are many!) hairdressers and salons across the Province should be able to reopen by July 6. Church services, which have been missed by so many people across Northern Ireland, should be able to return with appropriate social distancing by the end of this month. In a detailed announcement, it was also revealed that classes for key school years will resume on August 24, with social distancing to be reduced to one metre for children in schools. Shielding advice to people in at-risk categories is also to be paused at the end of July. These announcements followed the latest coronavirus figures released by the Department of Health on Thursday afternoon. No more deaths relating to the virus have been recorded in the last 24 hours while one more positive Covid-19 case was identified in the Causeway Coast and Glens area. The Department also revealed that the R rate in Northern Ireland is between 0.6 and 0.9. This is really positive news for us all after a tough few months.
