‘I’ve got a lot of mileage left.’ A popular, well-known church leader is stepping down. The Rev. Bill Terry, who maintained a board outside St. Anna’s Episcopal Church listing the names of the city’s murder victims, celebrated his last service on Sunday. Demolished: A little bit of Covington’s history is coming down this week. The Star Theater, an iconic – but closed down – theater downtown is being razed as part of a huge reshaping of an entire city block.
Another Metairie Chick-fil-A: Chick-fil-A wants to open another Metairie location. Drew Broach is following the chicken chain’s progress and says Jefferson Parish planners weren’t too keen on the store’s initial proposal.
‘Burning flesh’: You might have seen stories about “smoke evacuation” and wondered what that means. Well, it’s actually kind of skin-crawly: It’s about getting rid of the smoke created in operating rooms when heat-producing instruments burn skin and tissue. Louisiana’s the 12th state now to enact a law about it.
