Another top transfer for baseball

A couple of weeks out from the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, and it's worth remembering that we don't have the same sports lineup we're use to from the summer games.

Breakdancing (breaking), skateboarding and rock climbing are medal events. But sports like baseball and softball are off the program (though they're expected to be back for Los Angeles 2028). It's like the French took one look at baseball and softball and said, "Mais non, we do not know what zis is."

Meanwhile, there is still USA Baseball and USA Softball, and there are things like the U.S. Collegiate National Team. That's a team that LSU's latest transfer baseball player is on: right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson from UC San Diego.

Eyanson is the 12th player overall and, get this, the seventh right-handed pitcher the Tigers have landed in the portal so far this year. We'll see how all that pays off as the portal begins to settle down. Of course, you can check out all the names with our baseball portal tracker.

Monday we found out that Eyerson and all ther rest of the Tigers will be playing in the 2025 Frisco Classic tournament in Texas as part of LSU's non-conference schedule. Here is the list of other teams in Frisco.

Submitted for your approval is my follow-up column to Olivia Dunne's announcement that she is returning to the LSU gymnastics team in 2025. While focused on celebrating the All-Star Game invitation to her boyfriend, Pittsburgh pitcher Paul Skenes, she's also clearly excited about working toward 2025. We discuss what are some of the things that make coming back for another season worthwhile for Dunne.

And, just because it was so much bleeping work to stay on top of for myself and Sheldon Mickles, here is the link to our final Louisiana Olympic athlete tracker.

That's all for today folks. Thanks for subscribing and reading, especially in these slower summer months.

Until next time,

Scott Rabalais
