Another week without Thomas, Landy

Hello, hello!

This is Terrin Waack checking in for the Saturday edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. The date is Oct. 29. The Saints (2-5) host the Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) at noon on Sunday inside the Caesars Superdome. The Week 8 game will air live on CBS.

It has been a fun week, huh? Dennis Allen announced Andy Dalton would be the Saints' starting quarterback until further notice, despite Jameis Winston being healthy. That news came out Wednesday.

As for the latest and greatest, here's what I have to share:

  • Yours truly dug deep into five numbers that encapsulate the Saints' 2-5 record this season.
  • Column Jeff Duncan previewed the upcoming Raiders-Saints game on Episode 108 of the Dattitude podcast, sharing his thoughts on Dalton getting the nod, how the defense is performing and more.
  • Wide receivers Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas will yet again not play this Sunday, though Allen is optimistic about their return this season. Beat reporter Luke Johnson has a full look at Friday's final injury report, which cornerback Marshon Lattimore's name remained on all week.
  • Columnist Rod Walker was on site for Devery Henderson and Fred McAfee's induction into the Saints Hall of Fame on Friday.
  • Spencer Urquhart, who handles betting content for Nola.com, provides the top player props and matchups for Week 8.
  • Tyler Dunne tapped in as a contributing writer this week and shared a sneak peek of his book, "The Blood and Guts: How Tight Ends Save Football." This chapter explains how ex-Saints star Jimmy Graham helped modernize the position.

I believe that's everything new! Could be wrong. Be sure to check out the dedicated Saints page on Nola.com to be sure.

As always, thanks for reading our content. Enjoy your weekend!

Waack out.
