Anti-labor union legislation filed in Legislature

BY JESSICA WILLIAMS | Capitol News Bureau Editor

Anti-labor bills: Republicans in the Legislature hope to pass a cluster of bills that aim to weaken public-sector unions and slash worker benefits, James Finn reports. The bills would outlaw collective bargaining and make it harder for unions to collect dues.

Garret Graves: What is U.S. Rep. Garret Graves' political future? That's the open question as the fall congressional elections near, and Graves' 6th Congressional District could be redrawn to include a vastly different set of voters than those who elected him, Mark Ballard reports.

Black bears: The first hunting season in decades on the Louisiana black bear could open this year, if lawmakers agree to let the state collect fees for hunting permits, Meghan Friedmann reports. The bear was recently removed from the federal endangered species list.
