Start your Anzac Day with the Last Post on ABC Classic at 6am, and commemorate with music throughout the day.
During Mornings hear music for remembrance and reflection, including Nigel Westlake’s “The Glass Solider Suite”, based on a true story from Hannie Rayson's The Glass Soldier.
At 1pm, hear a recording of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem from 1963, conducted by Britten himself with the London Symphony Orchestra and featuring soloists Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Galina Vishnevskaya and Peter Pears.
And at 8pm on Classic 90 for 90, Jessica Cottis conducts the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and soloists from Turkey, New Zealand and Australia in the Australian premiere of Anzac centenary work, The Gallipoli Symphony. |
