Which is stronger? We have the real answer. View in browser | Manage preferences COOK THIS NOW Meet the Epicurious Cocktail ABV Calculator You’re probably aware that different drinks pack a different punch—the evening you’ll have after sipping a Campari-soda might be different from the one that starts with two martinis. ABV, or alcohol by volume, is the metric used to measure the proportion of pure alcohol a drink contains. This is easy to figure out when you’re drinking a beer or a glass of wine—it’s listed right on the container—but much harder when alcoholic and non-alcoholic ingredients are mixed and shaken or stirred with ice. This week, cocktail expert Derek Brown walks us through every factor that affects the final number, but you can also jump right to our handy-dandy interactive calculator. Name a classic drink (we’re Team Spritz these days) or plug in whatever ingredients you’re using to find out how strong your cocktail is tonight. TRY IT OUTWhat We're Talking About
