Flying Machine Rocket Build Part 10

The Flying Machine is a new rocket from Apogee Components (Now Shipping!) that has a retro-looking steampunk theme and features two strap-on booster pods that fall away from the core during launch.

This episode shows how to install the plastic nose cone and the streamer in the pods on the Flying Machine model rocket kit. In the latter half of the video, you'll see how to attach the pods to the core part of the rocket. Make sure to attach the back hook first to the body tube of the core vehicle. You'll use thick super glue to make the attachment of the special hooks.

Dino Chutes Shock Cord Bumper

This new bumper is padded Nomex protector that wraps around the shock cord of a rocket. It provides cushioning (also made of thick Nomex) in order to minimize the possibility of "zippering" the airframe when the shock cord gets pulled against it during ejection. You can easily swap it between rockets, so one bumper can cover your entire fleet. Now also available in a larger size for 4" or bigger diameter tubes.

LOC Patriot

The LOC 2.63" Patriot kit is a simple, straightforward mid-power scale kit that can fly on a range of motors from D-F easily, and with high power motors with some added nose weight. A great introduction for people looking to get into mid-power rockets.

LOC Goblin

This high-power upscale of an old Estes favorite, the Loc Precision Goblin can fly on F through J size rocket motors. Features a unique motor adapter assembly so you can use 29mm, 38mm, or 54mm diameter rocket motors. Great for sport flying, or an L1 high-power certification.

Reloadable Igniters

The new Hot Shot conductive pyrogen mix from QuickBurst allows you to have the "reloadable igniter." You'll save money making your own igniters from an ordinary two-conductor wire. No bridge wire needed. What's cool is you can reuse the same wire over and over again. Just mix and dip. And dip again after each launch.

Dino Chutes - Drogue Chutes

Drogue chutes are used as part of a dual-deployment system. They are the small chutes that deploy at apogee and allow the rocket to descend quickly and without tumbling. These drogue chutes from Dino chutes are strong, durable and specifically designed for high-power rockets. Everything about it was centered around one thing: strength. In stock are 18" and 24" diameter chutes.
