A measure of how much the coronavirus pandemic has spooked people can be gauged from the lack of any outcry over the plans announced by Google and Apple for developing technology that can be used for contact-tracing, says Sam Varghese.

The head of Internet service provider Launtel says the planned contact-tracing app for COVID-19 will be a failure unless the government takes additional steps to ensure that Australians have faith it will not violate their privacy.
