Death from above: 2020’s dangerous new airborne threatThere are plenty of reasonable causes for car crashes, but a recent incident that occurred near Savannah, Georgia is anything but. A pair of highway travelers were stunned after what looked like a brick hit their windshield and caused them to veer into the shoulder of the road. As it turns out, the culprit was an airborne turtle that had accelerated into the car’s windshield at a speed high enough to shatter glass. The turtle hit the window so hard, in fact, that glass was scattered throughout the car and cut the person in the passenger’s seat. Both occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries, but the poor turtle wasn’t so lucky. Police suspect the animal had been trying to cross the road and was thrown into the air by a passing car. I guess slow and steady doesn’t win the race, after all. Was this what Burt the turtle was really talking about when he told us “Duck and cover?” No, it was for something much worse.
