Apple has revealed its hand how it’s jockeying for position in the AI race, releasing four new “outrageously powerful” iPads. Apple says it iPads are the most advanced they’ve ever built and have used the tablet computers to launch its new M4 chip, skipping the M3 generation used in MacBook Pros.

It comes as rival Microsoft is set to unveil many AI-enabled laptop computers, including models powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, at its Build conference in Seattle later this month.

Meanwhile Samsung's latest lineup uses both on-device and cloud-based AI to perform tasks from photo editing to live translation, transcription and summarising context.

In health, biotech giant Moderna has partnered with AI heavyweight OpenAI to accelerate drug development and transform its business including in 13 drug trials in Australia.
