| Transforming Cancer Care for the Queens Community | In January, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $188 million investment from New York State to establish a comprehensive cancer care center for Queens to be built at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC), a joint effort between MediSys Health Network/JHMC and MSK. The Safety Net Transformation Program aims to support safety net hospitals by improving access, equity, quality, and outcomes while increasing their financial sustainability. | Partner Spotlight: South Asian Council for Social Services | The South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS) serves over 220,000 immigrant New Yorkers every year. Located in Flushing, Queens, SACSS’s mission is to empower and integrate underserved South Asians and other immigrants into the economic and civic life of New York City. SACSS has worked with MSK's Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service for more than a decade. Together, our organizations support a variety of health equity projects, including The Taxi Network, which holds regular health fairs at JFK and LaGaurdia airports and provides taxi drivers with important health screening services. | |
