Dear Friend,
The United States is the last line of defense.
While many other Western nations have embraced “hate speech laws,” the United States is among the few to resist these policies.
In Finland, Päivi Räsänen, a Member of Parliament, was charged with “hate crimes” for publicly questioning her church’s alignment with Scripture regarding human sexuality.
In Scotland and Ireland, legislators are pushing “hate speech” laws while refusing to define—and therefore limit—what they can prosecute under those laws.
These countries are Western democracies with founding documents that profess to protect freedom of speech and religious freedom. But these laws aren’t worth the paper they’re written on if activists and judges are able to gut them with court decisions and new laws—and when their citizens are not ready and willing to stand up for their own rights.
Countries across Europe have fallen prey to restrictions that deem sharing a Bible verse or opposing “gender transition” as a “hate” crime.
And now, government officials and institutions in the United States are calling for similar legislation.
In Washington State, Shane and Jennifer DeGross were denied the renewal of their foster care license because they wouldn’t consent to lie to children about gender ideology.
In Massachusetts, middle-school student Liam Morrison was punished by his school for wearing a shirt with the message “There are only two genders”.
In Colorado, licensed counselor Kaley Chiles was prohibited from helping children to live at peace with their bodies.
Alliance Defending Freedom is fighting to defend American citizens from laws that would force them to promote messages they do not agree with or silence them when they attempt to speak the truth.
But the best way you can ensure that you protect your rights is to KNOW your rights. The United States is the last stronghold against government censorship in the West—it's up to us to take ownership of the solemn responsibility entrusted to us by the Founders of our nation to know and protect our God-given rights.
