| | | Good afternoon! It's Monday, March 13, and today's headlines include research on the teaching of traditional values in schools, a health update from Tim Keller, and an interview with Pastor Mike Signorelli of V1 Church. | A survey from Rasmussen Reports found that a strong majority of American adults believe it's important for schools to teach traditional values of Western civilization, but how well they think schools teach these values varies by age. The poll, which surveyed 960 U.S. adults in late February, found that 78% of respondents say it's at least "somewhat important" for schools to teach "traditional values of Western civilization." Fifty-seven percent of all respondents believe it's "very important," an increase of about 15 percentage points from a similar survey conducted in May 2022. Just 12% of respondents said they don't believe it's important to teach traditional Western values, with 5% saying that it's "not at all" important. Thirty-six percent of respondents said that public schools do a "good job" when it comes to teaching these values, an increase from 25% in May 2022. Forty-two percent don't think schools do an adequate job teaching this topic. Twenty-two percent of participants said that they weren't sure how schools are doing in teaching traditional Western
values. | The report found that the majorities of every racial category believe it's at least somewhat important for schools to teach the traditional values of Western Civilization, with more whites (40%) than blacks (20%) or other minorities (34%) believing public schools do a good job teaching Western values. Responses also varied by age, with Americans 65 and older significantly more likely to say that teaching traditional Western values is "very" important. Only 22% of adults 65 and older and 26% of those ages 40 to 64 think that schools do a good job teaching the subject. Among participants aged 40 and under, 53% said that public schools do a good job teaching traditional Western values. | Pro-life advocate Mark Crutcher died at age 74 after suffering a heart attack. The pro-life leader was the president of Life Dynamics, a group that has conducted undercover investigations and reported on numerous cases of abortion facilities covering up child sex abuse. In an interview with CP, Crutcher's wife, Tulane Crutcher, highlighted a documentary her husband released in 2009 titled " Maafa21," which examined
the abortion rate among minority populations, arguing that the eugenics movement was behind the creation of Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider. She also said she wants her husband to be remembered as a "loving, tireless warrior for the babies and their mothers, and as a loving father and husband." The poll, which was conducted in early March, surveyed more than 1,000 adults age 18 and older. While 56% described "wokeness" as being informed about "social injustices," 39% said it "involves being overly politically correct and policing others' words." Responses generally fell along political lines, with 68% of Democrats viewing the term positively, while 56% of Republicans said it means "being overly politically correct." Fifty-one percent of Independents viewed the term positively, while 45% agreed that it means "being overly politically
correct." Read more. | | Faith Lutheran High School of Las Vegas has removed a poster of civil rights activist Ruby Bridges because it contained the N-word, per a report by local news outlet KLAS. Faith Lutheran, which claims to be the largest non-public school in Nevada, removed the poster after they received a notice from the Las Vegas Alliance of Black School Educators. The racial slur also reportedly appeared in books at the school. "The N-word, no matter where it is used, is derogatory. It's racial abuse, and students should not have to come to a safe space, which is school, and see the N-word used in curriculum materials," said Kamilah Bywaters, president of the LVABSE, as quoted by KLAS. Principal Kat Stokes told parents via email on Tuesday that the school agreed that the poster
"needed to have context in the classroom if it was to be displayed," adding, "So a lesson was taught on the importance of it and how it pertained to the curriculum and our world today. It was taken down after the lesson." Read more. |

| In this editorial, Sarah McDugal discusses the hyper-spiritualization of sex in light of Josh Butler's controversial article, " Sex Won’t Save You (But it Points to One who Will)." McDugal, the co-founder of Wilderness to WILD & the TraumaMAMAs mobile app, pushes back on the idea that sexual gratification is the highest form of intimacy and cautions
that statements such as those made by Butler diminish the feelings of abuse victims. "For survivors of adult assault or childhood molestation, tying explicit imagery to the concept of salvation comes across as both insulting and profane. ... not one more resource should be released on marriage, sex, or relationships without first having been vetted on the potential impact on readers who have experienced sexual and relational trauma," she concludes. | Tim Keller, who is currently battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer, revealed on Facebook that new tumors have developed, requiring him to undergo a repeat of the immunotherapy treatment he received last year. Last year’s immunotherapy "was successful in eradicating 99% of the tumors," he shared with followers. "However, new tumors have developed. They are unfortunately in some fairly inconvenient places, so the doctors encouraged us to go through the treatment again, this time targeting a different genetic marker of the cancer." Keller, an author and founder of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City and City to City, has continued to write and teach despite his diagnosis in May 2020. " He has requested prayer "for our trust and dependence on God, for his
providential oversight of the medical preparations now in process, and for our desire to glorify God in whatever comes our way." | Pastor Mike Signorelli of V1 Church in New York City believes some pastors avoid deliverance ministry, fearing it will expose the deliverance they need. Signorelli is featured in the new film " Come Out in Jesus Name," which sees Pastor Greg Locke rallying together the deliverance ministries of several ministers. During an interview with CP, Signorelli explained, "If you add up everything that Jesus did as recorded in Scripture,
one-third of all of His ministry was the ministry of deliverance. But far too often, pastors do the things they're comfortable with, and so what happens is their preferences block God's purposes." The pastor went on to explain that, when it comes to deliverance, the onus is on pastors because "it starts with the house of God. ... They have a preference toward preaching and teaching. And they say, 'Well, I don't know how I feel about deliverance,' and they're blocking God's purposes because of their preference. To be honest with you, I think a lot of pastors need deliverance." "Come Out in Jesus Name" is in select theaters on Monday. Watch the full interview and official movie trailer here. | | | | Thank you for spending part of your day with us.
