Last year around this time I did a rare podcast appearance... This was for my friend Charlie Johnson... who has nearly 300,000 IG followers... Charlie and I talked about how dieters and entrepreneurs face similar challenges... Diet Bombs and Destructive Distractions... For the dieters, having bags of chips and chocolate in the house on Friday night can lead to 5,000 calorie binges... Enough to destroy a week’s worth of healthy eating. Likewise, for ambitious entrepreneurs seeking 7-figures, social media apps and phone notifications can destroy the best-laid morning productivity plans. You must have systems in place for eliminating these Diet & Distraction BOMBS. As I have always said: Doing the WRONG thing once can destroy the results of doing the right thing 100 times. This goes for your diet, your investments, your workouts, and your productivity. That’s why I want you to build: - Your NOT to-do list - Public Accountability to better habits and big goals and dreams - An environment that prevents bad behavior (toss the temptations and block the distractions) With those in place, you can avoid these 5 mental mistakes holding you back from millions... 1. The 5-Figure Lifestyle You can’t have a 7-figure income on a 5-figure lifestyle. If you snooze, binge, or avoid difficult discussions and decisions, you are taking the easy way out in life. Living a Tommy Boy or Billy Madison existence is no way to go through life. YouTube & Netflix after nine... Drinking on school nights... Hitting snooze... All of these are stealing what matters in your life. 2. Perverse Forms of Procrastination Ever noticed yourself cleaning your office when you should be finishing a sales letter? Are you choosing the path of least resistance in the AM and going immediately to social media? You think you are being productive with so-called self-care... But it’s likely holding you back. Do only what is right & necessary and then get to work. 3. No Planning or Prep the Night Before A common obstacle among my clients... Is getting so busy they forget to plan tomorrow today. That leads to an ineffective morning routine as they scramble to create a plan. The solution? Do your planning and prep as early as lunchtime. Better to be early than to not be prepared at all. 4. Not Saying NO to The Trivial Many “If you want to do great things, you must do fewer things.” – Craig Ballantyne Cut out the “trivial many” activities and focus on the “vital few” that produce disproportional results. It’s the 80-20 principle at play. 5. Skipping Self-Reflection or Introspection "Most people fear being without audiovisual stimulation because they are too repetitive when they think and imagine things on their own." – Nicholas Nassim Taleb If you’ve read my book Unstoppable or been to my workshops you’ve heard about the power of “watching the movie of your day”. (If you haven’t, you can grab a FREE digital copy right here). This internal audit / self-reflection exercise shows you where you can improve... And it outlines the path to getting 1% better everyday... which is essentially 3X’s better and more productive in a year. Don’t skip it! “Know yourself and you will win all battles” ― Sun Tzu If you focus on destroying these 5 mental limitations, you’ll have exponential growth in 2022. Success Loves Speed, Craig |
