Presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference at the Utah state Capitol on Friday during his second visit to the state this year.
The governor emphasized that Republicans won't "get a mulligan in 2024," or a do-over. He also laid out his platform and said he was running to “reverse the decline” in the country.
“Our country is in decline,” he said. “We see it, we feel it. I don’t think that that decline is inevitable. I think that decline is a choice.”
DeSantis commented on Gov. Spencer Cox's "Disagree Better" initiative, "Bidenomics" and Florida’s Black history curriculum, which has received backlash.
Six protesters stood outside the room DeSantis was speaking in, protesting the controversial language of the curriculum, which says that middle school students should learn "how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit."
