Are We There Yet?
Michael Oliver and Patrick Highsmith are frequent guests while Brian Leni joins us for the first time.

The last time the U.S. had a serious inflationary problem was during the 1970s when gold rose from $35 to $800 per ounce. For the past 40 years there hasn’t been a significant consumer inflation problem though there has been an enormous amount of inflation in asset prices, caused not entirely by progress but by the debasing of the currency. Now, finally with insane amounts of money created out of thin air, we are once again experiencing consumer prices approaching double digits. Most commodities have risen dramatically but despite a huge amount of monetary debasement the two primary monetary metals, gold and silver, have not risen in value.

Brian will be asked for his views on why the precious metals have been lagging commodities and whether he thinks we have seen the bottom for the junior exploration sector. What are his views for the next six months and how is he playing the junior gold and silver mining markets as we await the next boom in precious metals? No doubt Michael Oliver will have some views as well on those same topics and we will ask him what he needs to see to advise his subscribers to aggressively buy these very low-priced gold and silver shares.

Speaking of low-priced junior mining shares with great upside potential, one of them is Timberline Resources which seems to be on the cusp of a meaningful Carlin-style gold discovery in Nevada judging by a number of high-grade drill intercepts similar to 41.1 meters grading 5.03 grams per ton. With a market cap of approximately US$7 million, you may want to pay attention to what Chairman Patrick Highsmith has to say about this year’s exploration program.
Brian Leni, an engineer by trade, is the founder and editor of Junior Stocks Review (juniorstocksreview.com), which exists to offer information, ideas, and strategies for managing speculation in the junior resource sector. Brian first discovered mining stocks over 15 years ago and was immediately intrigued. In 2014/2015, Brian anticipated that the resource sector was closing in on a bottom, and he wanted to access more capital for the expected up-cycle. So he sold his home and invested 2/3 of the home sale proceeds into resource stocks. By August 2016, he saw his invested funds triple in value. Due to his large gains, Brian quit his professional job as an engineer and now devotes his time to researching and investing in mining stocks.

Junior Stock Review gives first access to his subscribers to his top picks, commentary on the individual metals markets, his own notes from the field, and interviews with the other top minds in the resource sector.

J. Michael Oliver entered the financial services industry in 1975 on the Futures side, joining E.F. Hutton’s International Commodity Division, NYC. He studied under David Johnson, head of Hutton’s Commodity Division and Chairman of the COMEX.

In the 1980’s Oliver began to develop his own momentum-based method of technical analysis. In 1987 Oliver, along with his futures client accounts (Oliver had trading POA) technically anticipated and captured the Crash. Oliver began to realize that his emergent momentum-structural-based tools should be further developed into a full analytic methodology.

In 1992 he was asked by the Financial VP and head of Wachovia Bank’s Trust Department to provide soft dollar research to Wachovia. Within a year Oliver shifted from brokerage to full-time technical research. MSA has provided its proprietary technical research services to financial and asset management clients continually since 1992. Oliver is the author of The New Libertarianism: Anarcho-Capitalism.
