The Sunday Round-Up | March 27, 2022

As I wrote in yesterday's daily travel tip newsletter, I was hoping to be coming to you from Connecticut, but airfares are crazy expensive. In some markets, they really jumped, including L.A. to New York. They're two to three times the price using cash or miles than what they were a month ago. Here are 10 ways to find cheap flights this summer.

As usual, there's lots to cover from this week, including a story about airlines canceling routes to Alaska, a new travel product recommendation that I think travelers should keep handy and today's tip about switching seats on a plane. Are you obligated? Read that story and a whole slew of other travel news stories below. Scroll down for this week's Sunday Round-Up!

Travel Products of the Week
Wet Bags
If you haven’t been throwing a couple of wet bags in your suitcase or carry-on when you travel, you might want to start. A pilot friend recommended them to my wife just ahead of our trip to Hawaii and we’ve been using them constantly ever since. Check them out here.

Compression Packing Cubes
If you want to be organized when you travel and save time and space (who doesn't?), then compression packing cubes can help you accomplish all of that. Check them out here.

More Packing Cubes
If you couldn't tell, I'm now a convert to using packing cubes. My wife has been using them for a long time but it wasn't until our recent trip to Hawaii that I truly realized what a game-changer they are. We've never been more organized. Check out some more packing cube options here

Travel Tip of the Day
Are You Obligated to Switch Seats on an Airplane?
Are you obligated to switch seats on an airplane if someone asks you? The New York Times recently ran a piece on this topic and I had a lot of thoughts ... and I'm sure you do, too. I also have some advice to avoid being in this situation and how to go about it if you have to ask someone to switch. What are your thoughts? Drop a comment on the article and let's talk about it. Read the story here.

Miles & Points
-Summer will be here before you know it, and there's a new offer to help get an edge on earning miles. New United Club℠ Infinite Card cardholders earn 120,000 bonus miles (after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months). We think this is one of the best United credit cards. It comes with United Club membership, free first and second checked bags, Premier Access services (preferential treatment at airports), and IHG Platinum Elite status. Hurry, though—this United Club Infinite signup bonus is only available for a limited time.
