I am excited to be participating in this group show right in my neighborhood here in the Mission in San Francisco. This is a giant space that used to be a cafe and then a great clothing store (BetaBrand) that closed during the pandemic. The space has been “reactivated” as a community-focused art gallery with two large spaces in front and many smaller rooms in back and in a loft. It’s a big space. I will exhibit 4 images from my Rapid Express series. These images are “linear panoramas” taken from moving trains and other vehicles, they visualize the way travel distorts our perceptions using a unique type of spatial and time-based warping. Foreground and background receive distinctive treatments—as do vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines. Links: |
