THREE mindblowing perfomances in this weekend!!
BRADEN CARLISLE: Comedy magician who got his start in DC is now touring the country's comedy clubs. As a lover of all things magic, Braden is also a published author of magic theory book "Agree to Disagree" and hosts a weekly magic podcast titled "Awesome People Talking".

CHRISTOPHE JELINSKI: Recipient of the coveted DC Magician of the Year award, Christophe is a master mentalist known for mind-blowing mind-reading that will have you doubting if what you saw was indeed real magic.

TOMMY HALLADAY: First he is strange. Then he is wonderful. After cultivating a large online following on Instagram, Tommy Halladay is bringing his magic to the stage. He mixes in stunts and sideshow acts with magic to create something like you've never before seen.

HOSTED BY BENJI TRAN: Benji works his magic in Washington DC by performing at local restaurants and is the host of DC's magic show The Magic Duel.

Austin's most adventurous band, The Invincible Czars, bring their new tastefully modern score for the 1922 German silent film Nosferatu (1922 F.W. Murnau) to select cities in the South, Midwest and East Coast (and of course all over Texas) this fall - including several double feature performances with the 1925 American film The Phantom of the Opera.
Nosferatu is one of the most revered films in the history of cinema. It is most certainly as the most important horror film of the silent era and one of the first vampire movies - though it was almost completely lost when the estate of Bram Stoker sued the filmmakers for copyright infringement and most of the prints of the movie were destroyed.

Arlington, get ready! TGR is returning to the Arlington Drafthouse for the winter kick-off of the year. Join us for a premiere of their new feature length ski and snowboard film, Far Out, presented by REI.

There will be a ton of prizes from their partners at Yeti, The North Face, Atomic, Volkl, TGR and more, plus everyone in attendance will have a shot at the tour grand prizes - including one of THREE different trips this year (to Jackson Hole, to Crested Butte, and to Salt Lake City).  Don't miss your chance to see Far Out on the big screen.

Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (The Colbert Report) are back in Arlington, serving up their dirtiest, most disturbing, and patently misguided VHS finds from 25 years of collecting at thrift stores.

Vampire housemates (Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi, Jonathan Brugh) try to cope with the complexities of modern life and show a newly turned hipster (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer) some of the perks of being undead.

From UFOs to psychic powers, ghosts and government cover-ups, history is riddled with unexplained events. But how can we get tell the truth from the fiction, and separate the fact from the rumor? Since 2008, Stuff They Don't Want You To Know has delved into the murky world of everything from cults to lost cosmonauts and allegations of the paranormal, applying critical thinking to the world's most prevalent conspiracy theories and, more often than not, discovering the disturbing grains of truth hidden in the heart of paranoia. Join Ben, Matt and Noel as they embark on their continuing quest to fit the puzzle pieces together, to connect the dots and follow the breadcrumbs into the truth behind the curtain, from the furthest reaches of the universe to the innermost depths of the human mind.

--- Sketch & Improv Classes ---

Sketch Comedy has been the cornerstone for comedy creativity for many years, including Late Night talk shows, SNL, Monty Python, MadTV, and more. Join us for our Level 1 Sketch Writing course with veteran Stephen Hale. Students will get stage time to perform their material in front of a live audience at Drafthouse Comedy in DC and/or the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse. Additionally, willing students can form in house troops and perform along national headliners as they continue to develop their skills. Time to get your creative comic juices flowing.

This course in an introduction to sketch comedy, writing short comedic scenes, rehearsing and working towards building a show that the students will perform in.  Each week students will explore different sketch formats and be asked, each week, to bring in a new sketch based on a specific format.

The goal of Drafthouse Comedy Level 1 Sketch Writing is to push students to not be afraid to fail in their writing, make big choices and take risks. Finding your own voice through the guidance and support of your teacher is what we strive to have you achieve.

The course will run for 8 total weeks.  5 weeks of writing, discussing and collaborating on new material.  2  weeks of rehearsing and exploring chosen sketches for the show and the final show, which will be held on the last day (8th week) of class.

No prior sketch writing experience is necessary - the only requirement for this class is a desire to write, perform and learn.  Students should be prepared to work outside of class, writing new sketches, for the first 5 weeks of class.

Class Size: Max of 10 Students. Mondays 7pm - 9:30pm:

Next Class: October 8th
