More than 100,000 people have fled to Armenia from Karabakh after a decades-long crisis flared up again last week.
Refugees, including Sergey and his family, are arriving at the border traumatised, exhausted and hungry.
“Four days we were on the road to Armenia,” says Sergey. “We have no idea what is ahead of us after this.”
UNHCR is on the ground delivering life-saving aid to families forced to flee.
My colleagues have been at the border since the onset of this emergency meeting refugees who need emergency assistance and psychological support.
Our teams have set up an emergency hotline, providing critical support and information. We’ve also distributed foldable beds, mattresses and blankets. And we are urgently sending more supplies.
