Codex Compact Drive 1TB UpdateDear customer,
Due to changes in the semiconductor market, Codex has had to modify a component of the Compact Drive 1TB. This change has no impact on the performance, reliability, or capacity of the drives, but caused the drives to get
a new “electronic signature”. ARRI cameras have a mechanism to identify and accept only recording media which has passed our qualification test.
It is therefore necessary to update the list of supported drives for the new Compact Drives in the camera software. This updated list is included in
ALEXA Mini LF SUP 7.1. Therefore, please update your ALEXA Mini LF camera to SUP 7.1 to support the new Compact Drives.
The Compact Drive versions can be easily distinguished by their serial number. The serial number of the original Compact Drive 1TB starts with ‘1’. The serial number of the new version, or Rev B, Compact Drive 1TB starts with ‘5’. The serial number can be found at the lower right corner on the back of the drive.
Please note that it is neither necessary, nor possible to update the original Codex Compact Drives to the new version. For a short transition period our shipments may include the original and new version of the drive. It, however, will not be possible to select which version we ship and there is no change to the ARRI order number.
