Dear Friends,

We won’t say we didn’t have stressful, nail-biting days these past months, but we can say that we are incredibly proud of the teamwork demonstrated by the Art in Action Board and Staff.

In an effort to maintain consistent leadership for the staff, board members maintained their positions for an extra year and quickly picked up the pace of their volunteer activities, many meeting weekly to monitor and assess the impact of COVID-19 on our organization and assist with new protocols and developments. While we are grateful for each board member’s involvement, the true heroes are the seven staff members who held the Art in Action program together, quickly changing strategies when necessary and keeping positive attitudes in the face of adversity. We made tough budget decisions, including downsizing staff and then moving to a smaller space in Redwood City after operating from a Menlo Park space over 20 years.

What lies ahead? A stronger, smarter, more agile organization that will work to make sure all children have access to an arts education.  Click here to learn more about the impact that your contributions made to help us weather these challenging times.

With deep gratitude,
Mary Ellison and Lis Miller
Art in Action Board Co-Chairs
