ART JEWELRY AND JEWELS

The jewelry offer in June starts with a high-quality selection of jewels. From historical pieces, especially from the Art Deco period, to modern gems, breathtaking goldsmith works of all kinds are represented.

The historic butterfly brooch set with diamonds as well as sapphire, ruby and emerald cabochons is probably one of the most playful pieces. A hinge makes the lower part of the wing movable and thus transfers the delicate fluttering of a butterfly to this enchanting piece. A masterpiece is the elaborately crafted Art Deco necklace with a six-carat marquise cut diamond, onyx elements, emeralds and diamonds, which is estimated at €38,000 to €43,000.

For some years now, we have been devoting special attention to studio and art jewelry, and this auction also features big names. Italian goldsmith Giampaolo Babetto opens the chapter with four works. The contrasting play between pigments in red and yellow gold reflects his fine sense of color and form. Works by Hermann Jünger, Otto Künzli and Gerd Rothmann from the Munich area are not to be missed. Hermann Jünger is represented with eleven works, including a fantastic necklacecreated around 1970. Otto Künzli's 'Heart' brooch, limited to 15 pieces, is probably one of his best-known works. Other examples can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and the jewelry museum, Pforzheim, among others.

All lots will be on display in our showrooms from June 6, 2024. Our expert Nadine Becker is happy to answer your questions and provide condition reports.
