LONDON.- From 4 October to 13 December 2024, Ordovas presents Golds, an exhibition exploring one of the most symbolic colours in the history of art, and how it has been used and represented in the work of significant artists from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The exhibition features 11 works of art and represents a diverse and international group of artists including Carl Andre, Lucio Fontana, Donald Judd, Giuseppe Penone, Edmund de Waal and Andy Warhol. These modern works are shown alongside a masterpiece of medieval art: an exceptional champlevé enamel chasse from Limoges, France, created circa 1200 and believed to have housed and protected one of the most precious relics: a piece of the True Cross. ... DALLAS, TX.- In February 1983, the Associated Press profiled a woman named Christine Farrell, described in the headline as a “comic-crazed collector” from Burlington, Vermont, who “lives in a land of simple truths, where swashbuckling superheroes match wits with the world’s most cunning criminals.” Farrell showed off a handful of first-edition treasures, including her Superman No. 1, but said she didn’t collect comics because they might one day become valuable. She just liked to read them. “Everybody needs an outlet of some kind or other,” Farrell told the Associated Press. “You project yourself into a fantasy world where the superhero always wins. BMA appoints Cecilia Wichmann as Curator and Department Head of Contemporary Art
BALTIMORE, MD.- The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) today announced the appointment of Cecilia Wichmann as Curator and Department Head of Contemporary Art.
