NEW YORK, NY.- Today, perhaps more than ever, as many of us are limiting our exposure to the outdoors, we can reflect and consider our relationship with nature

On May 18th, 2020, Rehs Contemporary opened a digital exhibition of work by tonalist landscape painter Ben Bauer, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Belwin Conservancy in Minnesota. A love for the outdoors was instilled in Bauer from a young age. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, he grew up in a family that enjoyed weekends in the countryside, giving him an intimate perspective of the changing of seasons; a gradual unfolding of tonal shifts over time. More than 160 copyright-cleared works of art in the museums collection will be available here as well as an online exhibition of the works donated by C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry. The images are high resolution, meaning visitors to the site can zoom in and get closer to some paintings than they could in real life. ATHENS (AFP).- Greece reopened the Acropolis in Athens and all open-air archaeological sites under tight sanitary conditions to the public on Monday after a two-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. He died "in the arms of his wife Ludivine and his children Inord and Missia after a stroke", the family told AFP. Piccoli -- who passed on May 12 -- starred in a string of classics which redefined world cinema, from Luis Bunuel's "Belle de Jour" and "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" to a typically memorable turn opposite Brigitte Bardot in Jean-Luc Godard's "Contempt" in 1963. NEW YORK (NYT NEWS SERVICE).- Ken Osmond, who played the duplicitous teenager Eddie Haskell on the long-running sitcom Leave It to Beaver, one moment a smarmy young man when talking to parents, the next moment a devilish troublemaker when the adults were out of sight, died Monday at his home in the Shadow Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. He was 76. His son Eric said the cause was complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and peripheral arterial disease. EDINBURGH.- A rare Chinese imperial vase found in a Scottish country house topped the Asian Art sale held behind closed doors by Lyon & Turnbull on May 13. The Qianlong (1736-95) mark and period painted enamel lotus vase sold at £45,000 was one of 14 lots consigned by the Earls of Crawford and Balcarres of Balcarres House in Fife. The estate, commanding a view across the Firth of Forth, has been home to the Lindsay family since 1595. Decorated with a delicate floral design against a vibrant yellow ground, the 27cm vase is of a type made in the 18th century at the Imperial Workshops in the Forbidden City in Beijing. At Balcarres for several generations, it was probably among the collection of Chinese literature and works of art amassed by the 25th Earl (1812-1880) and his son the 26th Earl (1847-1913) and now distributed amongst several British institutions.
