COPENHAGEN.- This autumn and winter the Glyptotek offers the public a unique opportunity to be drawn into the world of the French artist Odilon Redon (1840-1916). Odilon Redon. Into the Dream is the first major presentation of Redon's work in Denmark. The basis of the exhibition is spectacular loans from both public and private collections in Europe and the USA, as well as from The Kröller-Müller Museum in Holland, who have devised the exhibition in collaboration with the Glyptotek. In all, one can experience more than 150 works by the French symbolist, graphic artist and painter. PARIS (AFP).- French screen legend Catherine Deneuve announced Monday she was set to auction off her personal clothing collection designed by her friend Yves Saint Laurent, the late fashion icon. Deneuve, who has just turned 75, said she was selling her country home in northern France where she kept a wardrobe full of Saint Laurent items and had decided to offload some of the clothes too "not without some sadness". "These are the designs of such a talented man who designed only to make women more beautiful," Deneuve said in a message shared by the auction house Christie's, which will handle the sale. Around 150 items, including coats, dresses and accessories -- some of them unique pieces designed for Deneuve -- will be auctioned at the end of January during Haute Couture fashion week in Paris. TORONTO.- Art Toronto 2018 launched last Thursday with the Opening Night Preview Gala to benefit the Art Gallery of Ontario. The AGO acquired new work by two mid-career artists, adding to its Collection for the first time work by Ontarios Ken Nicol and Ligwilda'xw Kwakwaka'wakw artist Sonny Assu. The Ken Nicol drawing was purchased with funds raised at the Art Toronto 2018 Opening Night with matching funds from the Peggy Lownsbrough Fund, and the Sonny Assu artwork was purchased with assistance from the James Lahey and Pym Buitenhuis Fund. Flashback On a day like today, French-English painter Alfred Sisley was born October 30, 1839. Alfred Sisley (30 October 1839 - 29 January 1899) was an Impressionist landscape painter who was born and spent most of his life in France, but retained British citizenship. He was the most consistent of the Impressionists in his dedication to painting landscape en plein air (i.e., outdoors).
