| | | Edition 38 | 2023 | | Dear John Do, | | „I believe that artificial intelligence (AI) can solve many problems in medicine", according to Alexander T. El Gammal, M.D. and specialist in visceral surgery. El Gammal is working in Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg’s (ARIC) AI & Health group on a system similar to ChatGPT, which is fed with medical content and numerous guidelines to answer questions about diagnosis and treatment interactively. In the long-term, this could become a kind of co-pilot for young doctors. In other news, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) is to become a joint venture managed by the City of Hamburg and the shipping company MSC, The Center for Applied Aeronautics Research (ZAL) and the Singaporean tech scale-up H3 Dynamics signed an MoU on developing hydrogen for aviation while Stromnetz Hamburg is investing EUR 50 million in upgrading its substation in Hamburg-Norderstedt.
