The many travels of a solider and military wife have made an indelible impression on the art of Aja Vaz, our 2018 commemorative bead artist. She even named her studio Wandering Spirit Designs.

The colors of the ocean, beach, seaweed, and marine life crept into her work when she was stationed in Monterey, California. Texas introduced her to the hues of the southwest — hues that found their way into her hollow lampworked beads and stayed. “I look at nature always — lichen on rock, bark on trees.”

Creative Connections: A Big Success!

Join us next year in California for another great jewelry-making weekend.

The first annual Creative Connections Retreat was held in Asheville, NC last week and we had a wonderful time! Inspiring instructors and amazing attendees spent three days together designing and crafting jewelry, collaborating, sharing meals, and enjoying the beautiful fall weather (and the wine)! Next year we’ll be headed to Tahoe City, California! The dates are set for November 2-4, 2019, at the exquisite Granlibakken resort. Check the website often for upcoming news and registration information. We hope to see you there!
