1. For only the fourth time in its history, the House voted Thursday to initiate impeachment against a president of the United States.
The floor fight over it was nasty, brutish and relatively short — just over an hour — ending in a nearly perfect party-line vote. Two Democrats voted "no," and one independent, Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, an independent who left the GOP essentially in protest over his party's allegiance to Trump, voted in favor.
2. A day after he resigned from the National Security Council, Tim Morrison, who was a top adviser on Russia and Europe, told congressional investigators that he was concerned that the phone call between President Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine would have a negative impact on both politics and policy if it were to become public.
He also told investigators that a conversation he had several weeks later with Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the E.U. and a Trump backer, gave him reason to believe that the release of aid to Ukraine might be conditioned on a public statement that it was reopening an investigation into the energy company Burisma. Biden's son Hunter was on the company's board.
3. Rep. Katie Hill delivered a fiery farewell speech on the House floor, blasting the "dirtiest gutter politics I've ever seen" shortly after casting her vote to approve procedures for the impeachment inquiry of President Trump.
"I am leaving now because of a double standard. I am leaving because I no longer want to be used as a bargaining chip. I'm leaving because I didn't want to be peddled by papers and blogs and websites used by shameless operatives for the dirtiest gutter politics I've ever seen, and the right-wing media to drive clicks and expand their audience by distributing intimate photographs of me taken without my knowledge — let alone my consent — for the sexual entertainment of millions," Hill said.
4. Just weeks after he was named President Trump’s cybersecurity adviser in 2017, Rudy Giuliani walked into an Apple store in downtown San Francisco, looking for help.
“Trump had just named him as an informal adviser on cybersecurity and here, he couldn’t even master the fundamentals of securing your own device.”
