As Gov. Landry talks education initiatives at the statehouse, head of Baton Rouge school transportation resigns

Gov. Jeff Landry opened up the Legislature's 2024 regular session with calls to make major changes to education in Louisiana. 

"When we are done with this session – let us send a message loud and clear – that the parent is the most important voice in a child’s education," Landry said. Read about his agenda here. 


Kelvin Ridgley, who took over as head of transportation for Baton Rouge public schools nine days before the start of the 2023-24 school year, started the job amid school bus chaos that dragged on for weeks. Seven months later, Ridgley says he’s resigning.

He sent out an email to the schools administration Monday morning.
