We're a week out from Ohio's Aug. 8 special election on a constitutional amendment that would make the constitution more difficult to change. Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose, who is running for U.S. Senate, has asked his Republican opponents to chip in $1 million each to get the amendment approved. It’s too late to request an absentee ballot. But you can still vote early at your county board of election. If you’re voting in person at your regular precinct next Tuesday, make sure you head to the right spot. More than a dozen polling places in Cuyahoga County have changed. You can check your location on the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections’ website. Meanwhile, if you’ve seen the "Barbie" movie, did you notice any similarities to Issue 1? -- Laura |

Olivia Mitchell reports the move comes as crime has spiked and the city has struggled to recruit officers within its police department. Analysis error: A story on the front page of Sunday’s Plain Dealer contained inaccurate information that misrepresented the impact three potential jail sites would have on police departments and communities throughout Cuyahoga County, Kaitlin Durbin and Zachary Smith report. The story has since been corrected online to present an accurate conclusion of the analysis: that while a Garfield Heights jail may be a closer commute for a majority of police departments countywide, it would be a longer drive from most of the police departments and communities that send the highest volume of detainees to the facility. |
