A Message From the Editor

Good morning. As the conflict in the Middle East escalates, Dario Sabaghi writes that law firms in the region are prioritizing lawyer safety. In the U.S., Perkins Coie, which successfully sued President Donald Trump for targeting the firm with a punishing executive order, has laid off 5% of its professional staff this month, following a firmwide review of strategic goals and best practices over the past year. And in the Netherlands, Linda Thompson writes that the Dutch bar association is expected to decide today if it will open the door to exploring whether non-lawyers, including private equity investors, should be allowed to take ownership stakes or participate in the governance of Dutch law firms.
