India’s Extensive 2021 Trade Negotiation Activity Has Slipped Mainly Under the Radar. That Will Soon Change.
India has been badly hit by Covid -19, however is now fast coming out of the pandemic’s worst, and is poised to be a major global contributor to vaccine production on a massive scale. That improvement in Indian FDI is attributable to many factors, not least the change in attitude to many businesses concerning the China manufacturing market. However, New Delhi has also been busy re-positioning it’s Free Trade and related agreements.
 
The New Trade Relations Between India, ASEAN and the UK: What Comes Next?
Today, India is the sixth-largest trading partner of the Southeast Asian economies, with 37% of foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into India from ASEAN countries. Among ASEAN Dialogue Partners, India is also ASEAN’s sixth most significant source of FDI. Meanwhile, bilateral Trade between India and UK was US $15.5 billion in 2019-20. Given the size of the two economies, there is potential to scale this up considerably.
 
India Backtracks On China Trade & Investment Negativity
Both sides military retreat in Ladakh, while the Indian Minister of Commerce says the trade situation is normalized. Indian connectivity is benefiting from the Belt & Road Initiative while China is now playing the India trade rather than confrontational card.

India’s pharmaceutical industry is among the leading global producers of cost-effective generic medicines and vaccines, supplying 20 percent of the total global demand by volume and 62 percent of the global demand for vaccines.

Investors should note that various polices have aligned to give manufacturing toys in India a major push, including creating an industrial ecosystem and establishing hubs, besides introducing import hikes and strengthening quality control checks.
 
How Tesla Structured A Tax Efficient Manufacturing Strategy Into India
Tesla chose to route its manufacturing investment into India via the Netherlands, a tax-friendly jurisdiction. This allows the company to avail benefits on capital gains and dividend payments. Besides, this route will allow Tesla to easily import its latest intellectual property / technology from its Dutch subsidiary to India.
 
Investing In Maharashtra
In late 2020, the western India state of Maharashtra, which includes Bombay, introduced the Maha Parwana policy, to attract greater investments in its industries. The plan rolled out several incentives, including a single-window clearance system.
Investing In Karnataka
Setting up a business in South-West India's Karnataka State has become easier as investors will not require multiple clearances in the first three years. Land reforms also simplify the land acquisition process for new setups.
