A Trial to Assess T2D Prevention With A Family-Focused Approach

Jardiance Meets EMPEROR-Reduced Primary Endpoint

Teens with Type 1 Diabetes at Risk for Low Spatial Working Memory
Letter from the Editor

When I was actively doing diabetes classes, one thing that I tried to insist on was to get the patient’s entire family to attend an education session. I found that I could get part of the family most of the time. I also found if I could do it during non-work hours, I could improve the attendance, and if it was only an hour or so participation increased. This goes against some of our common diabetes programs, as they are usually too long to get everyone there.

Now we see some new information on how to take advantage of family attendance at these programs.

Our current intern, Peter Jay Won, Pharm.D. Candidate, University of Florida, has reviewed over half a dozen studies to bring you information on why you should try to get the whole family to attend some of the classes.

Newsflash: FDA approves artificial pancreas for young children with type 1 diabetes:

The FDA approved a next-generation hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery system for children aged 2 to 6 years with type 1 diabetes, according to an agency press release. The MiniMed 770G system (Medtronic) is a hybrid closed-loop diabetes management device intended to automatically monitor glucose and provide appropriate basal insulin doses with little or no input from users or their caregivers. The 770G system is the first legally marketed device that can automatically adjust insulin delivery based on continuous glucose monitor values for a young pediatric population.
