Brazil-focused VCs and tech investors are invited to register for LAVCA's Encontro Anual Brasil on August 30 in São Paulo. LAVCA’s annual Brazil investors meeting is back in person and will convene leading VCs active in Brazil for a half-day program focused on networking and discussions.

Quinn Li, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Qualcomm Ventures, will join for a fireside chat as part of his inaugural visit to Brazil, followed by an afternoon focused on networking and breakout sessions. 

Carlos Ramos de la Vega, Director of Venture Capital at LAVCA, will present brief insights from our 1H 2022 VC data – including an update on venture funding going to women-led startups.

The program will also include the following breakout discussions:

Join Silicon Valley Bank and LAVCA for an update on LAVCA’s 2022 VC/Tech Mid-Year Trends for Latin America. After last year’s extraordinary and record-breaking year for VC investment, the current market environment is less certain. Even so, LatAm is having its second strongest year on record. Carlos Ramos de la Vega, Director of Venture Capital at LAVCA, will review top sectors of growth, key deals in the major markets, new unicorns, notable exits and M&A.

A panel discussion with Eric Acher of monashees, Carolina Strobel of Antler and Joaquim Lima of Riverwood Capital on the future of the industry in the region will follow.

 IDB and IDB Invest agreed to provide up to USD300m in credit for the construction of a Peru-based wind farm Punta Lomitas Wind Power Plant. Separately, IDB Invest agreed to MXN1.5b (~USD74m) in financing for Mexico-based housing developer RubaRead more #Private Credit

 Astella reached a USD150m final close for its fifth fund, anchored by Spectra. The fund will focus on pre-seed to Series B stage startups in Brazil. Read more #VC

 Goldman Sachs agreed to provide up to USD150m for a debt facility for Clara, a Mexico-based startup offering corporate expense management for startups. Clara reached a USD1b valuation in 2021 with a USD70m Series B led by Coatue. Read more #VC


 Odata, a Brazil-based data center services provider, raised USD35m from IFC to open an additional data center in Mexico. Read more #PE

 Kamaroopin, a growth fund founded by Pedro Faria of Tarpon Investimentos, led a BRL170m (~USD34m) Series D for Dr.Consulta, a Brazil-based health insurance provider, with follow-on from Lightrock and Madrone Capital. Read more #VC

 Creation Investments Capital Management invested USD25m in DD360, a Mexico-based financing and management platform for residential real estate. Read more #VC

 Iporanga Ventures and Parallax Ventures led a USD15m Series A for Brazil-based open banking platform Klavi, with participation from GSR Ventures, CIP and Vivo Ventures. Iporanga led a ~USD1.3m seed round in September 2021. Read more #VC

 ISA LAB, a Brazil-based at-home vaccination service, raised a BRL60m (~USD12m) round with participation from Yaya Capital, FIR Capital, Vox Capital, Kortex and Bradesco Saude and Scale-Up Ventures, and follow-on from Canary, Norte Ventures and MatterScale. Canary led a ~USD2.6m Series A in September 2021. Read more #VC


 Founders Fund led a USD10m round for Mudafy, an Argentine real estate broker with operations in Argentina and Mexico, with participation from IDC Ventures. Read more #VC

 Van Eck Associates led a USD8m seed round for Investo, a Brazil-based manager specializing in ETFs, with participation from other foreign investors. Read more #VC

 Tiger Global and Bain Capital Ventures led a USD7m seed round for Miferia, a Mexico-based wholesale marketplace for cosmetics, food and beverage and home decor, with participation from Canary, Latitud and Asymmetric Capital Partners. Read more #VC

 Portage led a USD6.5m seed round for Kontempo, a Mexico-based B2B BNPL startup, with participation from SCOR P&C Ventures, IGNIA Partners, Tectonic Ventures, Rhombuz VC and Asymmetric Capital Partners. Kontempo also raised a USD25m debt facility from Upper90. Read more #VC
