Anne Rice's architectural legacy in New Orleans
By Bob Warren Run on tests: More evidence that we’re staring at a new COVID surge. A handout of free, at-home tests in New Orleans was halted Wednesday morning after long lines formed at fire stations and demand overwhelmed available supplies. The program was resumed at some library locations – but will only last until supplies run out. Meanwhile, as the new cases pile up, will we see a renewed statewide mask mandate? Some health officials weighed in. Arrest questions: A story today from ProPublica and WWNO probes the arrest of a man in March 2019 following a melee in a Metairie parking garage as a Carnival parade passed nearby. Viral video of the incident is sparking questions. Anne's architecture: Novelist Anne Rice, who died recently, left more than a collection of best-selling books. In New Orleans, she also leaves an architectural legacy, Mike Scott reports. Playoffs? Playoffs? And, finally, the sports folks (and our hearts) tell us the Saints still have a shot to make the playoffs. Saints beat writer Amie Just digs into it here. Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today. BW |
