It's Monday, August 15, and today's headlines include a terrorist attack in Jerusalem, an interview with Live Action's Lila Rose, and research exploring Pentecostalism and Renewalist Evangelical Christians in America. | A Palenstinian man opened fire on a bus in Jerusalem, injuring at least five Americans, including a pregnant woman, with the U.S. State Department calling the incident a "terrorist attack." Twenty-six-year-old Amir Sidawi targeted a bus carrying Jewish worshippers who had just prayed at the Western Wall early Sunday morning, injuring at least eight people, two of whom are in serious condition. CNN reports that five Americans were being treated at two nearby hospitals. The pregnant woman underwent an emergency cesarean section (C-section), with Shaare Zedek Medical Center describing the conditions of both mother and baby to be serious. | | Live Action's Lila Rose talks making America a better place for families | In this interview with The Christian Post, Live Action's founder and president, Lila Rose, discusses the state of the pro-life movement today and what laws she would like to see enacted to make life easier for women and their children in the post-Roe era. "Making America a friendlier place for families is a crucial pro-life public policy objective," Rose said. Listing legislative proposals designed to achieve that goal, which her organization supports, Rose said these plans include a tax credit for children that makes it "easier to raise a child," "financial support for pregnancy resource centers and non-abortion health centers" and "adoption tax credits." Pointing out the difficulties of raising children today due to economic struggles, Rose says the pro-life movement "should be focused on both private and public financial support for families to help them raise their children." The study surveyed more than 1,000 American Evangelicals and found that more than half of those who self-identify as Pentecostal or Charismatic do not attend a clearly Pentecostal church or denomination, such as Foursquare or the Assemblies of God. The research also identified what Infinity Concepts Founder and President Mark Dreistadt calls a "Renewalist (Pentecostal or Charismatic) Evangelical" and noted this group tends to be slightly younger than other Evangelicals, more likely to be raising children, more ethnically diverse, and more likely to live in less traditionally Christian parts of the country, such as the Northeast and West. "Our method of relating to the hatetheist needs to be a combination of obeying God’s command to take the Gospel to all people while at the same time following both Jesus’ and Paul’s model of not being a punching bag for their adversaries," Schumacher writes. | | Why companies with female CEOs are not leading the fight for abortion | Jerry Bowyer discusses "first movers"—those companies that were the first to vocalize their opposition to the reversal of Roe v. Wade—and questions why just 15% of those first mover companies are led by women CEOs. "It should come as no surprise that male-managed and male-governed companies are driving the pro-abortion phalanx of corporate America. No group more directly benefits from abortion than powerful men who are able to use the procedure to rid themselves of the unwanted results of their sexual encounters," Bowyer states. Read more. |
