It's Friday, April 14, and today's headlines include a recap from CP's Generation Indoctrination event, a poll on Americans' views of trans participation in sports, and a "Holy Spirit" Ouija board game. | | During The Christian Post's Generation Indoctrination event in Dallas, Mary Hasson, an attorney and fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., discussed how a 1996 meeting of "transsexual activists" set the stage for today's trans ideology. It was at that meeting that the International Bill of Gender Rights was created, a document which stated, among other things, that humans "have the right to define their own gender identity regardless of chromosomal sex" or genitalia; the right "to change their bodies cosmetically, chemically, or surgically;" and the right to enter into marital contracts and bear children. | | "And nobody cared," Hasson stated. "It was a document that fizzled, got no attention. That was 1996. Fast forward to today: here we have those very same beliefs that are now Biden Administration policy. And make no mistake, this is a belief system. It's a belief about who we are as human beings," she added. Calling the movement a "danger to women," Hasson cautioned that the ideology is pushed through public education and poses a direct threat to Christianity. | Poll: Americans oppose men in women's sports, drag shows, puberty blockers | | A YouGov survey sponsored by The Economist has found that a majority of Americans oppose allowing men who identify as trans to compete on women's sports teams and believe that children should not be exposed to drag shows. The April 2023 survey of 1,500 U.S. adults found that 55% of respondents oppose men's participation in women's sports. Fifty percent believe drag shows "should be restricted to people 18 or older," while 14% believe "they should be banned altogether." Meanwhile, 53% oppose parents giving their children puberty blockers, compared to 32% of respondents who support the idea. Read more. | | Arizona Supreme Court upholds confessional privilege in child abuse case | | Arizona's highest court has upheld a law allowing religious bodies to refuse to hand over documents or answer questions in child abuse cases if the crime was learned in a confessional setting. A group of child abuse victims sued the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, two Mormon bishops and other church members, accusing them of conspiracy and negligence for not reporting abuse committed by a church member named Paul Adams. Adams, who committed suicide following his 2017 arrest, sexually abused his children for years and posted videos of his disturbing actions online. | Euthanasia deaths rise to all-time high in the Netherlands | | Over 8,700 people died by euthanasia in the Netherlands in 2022, with a 34% increase in requests coming from dementia patients, according to data from the regional monitoring committees. Records also show there has been a substantial increase in the number of couples seeking to die together. | Priest issues warning on 'Holy Spirit' Ouija board game | | Roman Catholic Father Ernesto Caro of the Diocese of Monterey, Mexico, is warning people to stay away from a new board game marketed as a "Christian" version of the Ouija board. "The Holy Spirit Board" advertises itself as a way to help people talk directly to "our lord and savior Jesus Christ," but Caro criticized the game for being a "trap from the devil, adding, "If the [Ouija board] triangle is moving by itself, be careful. It's not God who is moving; it's the devil."
