The showstoppers of this auction undoubtedly come from the Glassware department with a rare and large cylinder-knopped baluster wine glass, circa 1720 and an extremely interesting, early 18th century, 'Kit Kat Club' glass onion decanter. The Kit-Cat Club was a lively gathering of politically minded and literary figures in early 18th-century London. The members, staunch supporters of the Whig cause, would discuss politics, literature, and the day's issues. To add some colour to the section are three Whitefriars textured bark vases designed by Geoffrey Baxter, circa 1960 with an accessible estimate starting at £50.
Offerings from the paintings section include two early and beautiful, 19th Century Reverse Glass Pictures of Pomona and Flora estimated at £300 - £500 and a miniature of Lieutenant Thomas North (d.1821), watercolour on ivory, by Frederick Buck (1771-1839/40).
This auction contains a nice mixture of ceramics, glass, paintings and prints with estimates ranging from £30 - £1,200 making it a sale that we hope you'll enjoy browsing and find something you like! |
