To kick off our 2025 auction year, we have a wide range of Modern and Contemporary art on offer, featuring some of the biggest names in art history! Pablo Picasso's lithograph 'Nu assis, de profil' on Arches-Velin (estimate EUR 9,000 - 12,000) was created in 1947 and impressively illustrates Picasso's ability to maintain a strong expressive power even with a reduced style. With just a few precise lines, he focuses on the essential form of the figure without, however, forgoing a strong presence and sensuality. Picasso was a master at breaking through the boundaries of form and perspective through his own interpretation - a characteristic that runs through his entire oeuvre right up to his later works. Despite the sketchy reduction of the motif, the dynamism and liveliness remain unbroken. Rather, he succeeds in creating a remarkable physicality through loose contours and the renunciation of shading. Marc Chagall's 'Le Verger - Sheet 37 from Daphnis et Chloé', 1961 - (estimate EUR 8,000 - 10,000) combines his characteristic intensity of color and poetic imagery. In this masterful lithograph, a dreamlike scene full of lightness and romance unfolds, impressively reflecting Chagall's unmistakable style. Joan Miró's 'Escalade vers la lune' from 1969 (estimate EUR 8,000 - 12,000) fascinates with its playful abstraction and dynamic formal language, which takes the viewer on a surreal journey into cosmic spheres. The silver gelatin prints by Sally Mann stand out in particular from the more than 30 lots in the photography category. Sally Mann's black and white photographs from the early 1990s, particularly from the 'Immediate Family' series, capture intimate, poetic and often melancholic moments of her children in the natural surroundings of her garden. With a sensitive balance between staging and authenticity, she explores themes such as childhood, vulnerability and transience. In the upcoming auction, 'Vinland' (estimated price EUR 15,000 - 20,000), 'Punctus' (estimated price EUR 8,000 - 12,000) and 'Jessie at 11' (estimated price EUR 5,000 - 8,000) are three outstanding works that impressively illustrate Mann's unique visual language and her emotional depth.
