This month's newsletter is gonna be short and sweet. I plain and simple lost the plot this month. Before I knew it, I was staring at the Rs end of August on the desk planner.

We've just about had to fit a winch to our ride-on mower recently. Mudbourne has been cold, wet and grim again this month, it's been very hard to drum up enthusiasm for much at all, to be honest. It's even been difficult to get time in the yard on the Gas Gas as it's waterlogged and slippery. The little ring-ding is doing me no favours indoors as I leave trails of destruction across the gardens. As one of Mrs Strapz's hats is that of a Landscape Designer, you can imagine how the depth would rapidly increase.
The sun broke through last weekend, started to thaw my bones and warm my enthusiasm. The staffing challenges (don't you love the modern speak, a right royal pain in Rs is now a challenge) are settling and I can see the horizon and get fired up about a couple of trips on the Kato. I neeeeeed some quality helmet time, a few million stars and some campfire TV.

Sitting out in the sun today grabbing some lunch, I could feel the promise of Spring.

By the time you get the next newsletter, this little black duck will have turned 65. Eeeeek... I have no idea
  1. how I survived this long, or,
  2. how it happened so blerry quickly
I grew up with DDT, 24D, Glycophosphate, Dioxin, PFAS, Asbestos, fibreglass dust, glass insulation dust, concrete dust, and fumes of every known toxic brew. That's before we get onto alcohol, drugs and motorcycles. It's a miracle really.

Last Friday my Local Docs, the practice nurse drafted a 'Care Plan' for me... Fark! That came as a shock.

Moto GP Arrangements

Although this year's GP is likely to be bigger than Ben Hur, we aren't doing the shop in Cowes or tradeshow thing at the Track. While we enjoy catching up with many of my mates and customers the cost, work involved and staffing availability has put it beyond me these days.

What we will be doing is laying out the welcome mat, turning on the espresso machine and inviting some guests along to Strapz HQ with info, bargains and lots of new stuff to look at. The shop will be stocked with the usual goodies and in full swing on Monday and Tuesday as normal and Wednesday to Saturday arvo with our special GP Week Celebrations.

Strapz HQ is not too far from the South Gippy Highway for those taking a leisurely ride. It will be so heavily policed that there will be only one way to travel on it I'm sure.

Made in Germany the importer of Held and former distributor of Schuberth helmets will be along with run-out helmets and a selection of the tastiest clobber from the Held range. You'll be able to stock up on wet weather gear, grab some new gloves or simply try on gear to confirm your size.
Our other guest will be The Grinning Dingo racewear. While track-orientated gear is not usually in our remit, it's all a bit of fun to celebrate GP Week. I'm sure many of our mob will need elbow sliders or a cracking hoodie. How about elbow sliders on the hoodie? It might be a hell of a big party week down the Island.

Got The Sack

The latest brian (sic) wave from Strapz HQ is something I've been developing over the last three years or so.
I wanted a neat light bag to use the space between my panniers and using the straps across the seat seemed to make sense.

As with most Strapz designs, weeding out complication was part of the brief. Made of the same tried and crashed Aussie canvas and Kiwi-made 'clups' the saddle bags are constructed of, they simply roll closed. Included in the deal is one of our Pannier Liners.

Pre-order now for the first delivery starting mid-September.

Pre-Price Hike Opportunity

Grab an XD-4 at the old price
Every delivery that comes through the door lately seems to have had a price rise. It's got to the stage that before we put stuff away we need to check that we aren't giving it away.

XD-4 helmets are going up $50 come September. We'll hold the old price until the 15th on brain buckets we have on the shelf at present.

Plain colours are going up to $900 and graphics increase to a gorilla ($899.99 and $999.99... the turkeys).

I'm loving mine, the only thing I'd like is a push-in latch rather than D rings but Arai are 'anal' about ultimate safety (hence no internal sun visor, that's 5mm more EPS foam they can use) so they don't go there. They are also achingly conservative so I won't hold my breath.

On the Subject of Helmets

For the next few months, we'll do a series of features on collectable helmets. Our staffer Marcus has quite a remarkable stash of brain buckets with interesting histories and owners.

We'll bring you a helmet and story each month.

Topsakz R Back

One of our favourite bags has been on sabbatical for a couple of years. It fits toward the rear of most bikes, full, empty or anywhere in between.

Constructed from the same stuff as our pannier systems, 17oz 'CS12' ripstop canvas, think of it like a soft, rackless version of the Gearsack of old. The completed package includes a free Liner and a Loop.

For those of you who are locals don't forget we're open
on the FIRST Saturday of every month.
That's all I got this month.
