Times Past

A small, yet tantalising blurb on the front page of The Canberra Times on this day in 1980, offered the first reports into the now famous case of Azaria Chamberlain's disappearance. The story, which was continued on Page 7 of the paper, reported Azaria as missing from her family's campsite near Ayers Rock the weekend prior. At the time of the article, searches were still under way for her. Parents Lindy and Michael Chamberlain, had reported seeing a "shape like a dingo" slinking out of the family's tent.  READ MORE
