The state House on Monday approved a slate of bills that insurance companies and business interests say would hold down rising automobile insurance rates in Louisiana. Some lawmakers, however, agreed with trial lawyers that the changes won’t help consumers in a state where auto insurance rates are among the highest in the nation.
