Greetings, New Orleans food fans! This week, we visit the newly reopened beer mecca, Avenue Pub. An acclaimed Indian restaurant steps into an upscale new home. Ian McNulty created a menu fit for a king (or a French president). Chick-fil-A is expanding into New Orleans, and festive Réveillon dinners are underway. The Avenue Pub is back with a focus on local beer, after a change in ownership and a renovation. On our visit we admired a whimsical addition, fitting for the St. Charles Avenue spot. 2. On the road again? Punjabi Dhaba is a first-class Indian restaurant with a regional culinary focus — located inside a gas station by a truck stop. Now it has a sleek new home in Kenner, the latest chapter in a surprising, transcontinental story. 3. Wait! There's more. There was great excitement in La Nouvelle-Orléans last week when French president Emmanuel Macron visited us: Ian McNulty recommended this special restaurant tour. Decidedly on the other end of the gastronomic spectrum, Chick-fil-A is opening three locations in New Orleans. And make reservations early for festive Réveillon dinners in December. 4.
