Average sale price of existing home in Lafayette still lower than a year ago

by Adam Daigle | Acadiana business editor

Good morning, Acadiana business news readers. Let's get it started on your week.

Those looking for a home are starting to get a bit of a reprieve: the price of an existing home is starting to come down. The average sale price last month in July again was lower than a year ago, the first time this year that's happened in consecutive months.

What's still holding it back? Sellers are holding back as rising interest rates and the increase in insurance has cut into what buyers can afford. And the average sale price of a newly built home was still well over $300,000.

Check out the story here.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.
