Because you're about to become even hungrier

As we inch closer to the end of April (not to freak you out, but we’re almost halfway through 2025), I’ve been taking a moment to look back at some of the best dishes I’ve devoured this month.

Dubai’s social calendar is packed with new restaurant openings left, right, and centre – and while we love keeping an eye on the newcomers, sometimes it’s just as satisfying to revisit a few OG spots.

Here’s what made it into the camera roll (and my belly) this month:

The enchiladas at Maya

One of the best Mexican spots in town, Maya by chef Richard Sandoval, knows how to deliver. Slow-cooked chicken tucked into soft corn tortillas, bathed in a moreish sauce and crowned with melty cheese. Need we say more?

The French omelette at Carine

No matter what you order from Carine, it rarely misses.

Giving a masterclass in technique, Carine's French omelette is soft and custardy inside, with a delicate, barely golden exterior. Proof that sometimes the simplest dish makes the biggest impact.

The thick patty cheeseburger at Icon

As a die-hard smashed patty fan, it will always be the top recommendation, but biting into a thick, juicy burger at Icon Bar & Lounge in Media City was a reminder that sometimes, more really is more. This one’s a team Time Out post-work staple for a reason.

The Parmesan-dusted shrimp tempura at Goldfish

Chef Akmal Anuar knows his way around Itameshi cuisine (mash-up of Japanese and Italian flavours and techniques), and his Parmesan-dusted shrimp tempura at Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori is proof. Plump prawns, perfectly breaded and deep-fried, then finished with a generous snowfall of cheese. 10/10.
