Bahrain—the land of a million date palms where the centuries-old practice of pearl hunting eventually gave way to ‘black liquid gold’—is synonymous with oil, dates, and pearls. However, the country is now at the cusp of yet another transition as it starts moving away from its reliance on oil revenues to establish itself as the FinTech hub in the Middle East. FinTech inarguably accelerates the transition to a thriving financial ecosystem, be it for financial capitals such as London and New York or emerging economies such as India.
