Baking Lessons

By Holly

A single layer chocolate cakeA hearth is timeless. In days past, of the likes of Little Women, warm flickering light from the stove used to brighten up evenings for families coming together over a meal. What would they talk about? Maybe the ships coming in from sea, slow telegraphs from a father far away, the newspaper picked up for a dime from the little boy at the market? After the dishes were put away, a child like Beth might play hymns on her old upright, several decades before the radio was ever invented.

Egg on Toast

By littergitter

Egg on Toast with melted cheese on topIn the past, my husband didn't like eggs for breakfast without some bacon to go with it. Now that we have stopped eating bacon, he has found that he loves egg on toast with melted cheese on top. When I first started making it, I burned the toast but he ate it anyway. I have worked on my timing to get this to turn out just right for him.

Donut Pin Cushion

Donut Pin Cushion - pink frosted donut pincushion on red backgroundThis handmade donut pin cushion is so cute, I just want to bite it! It's great for your sewing box to keep your pins in order, but you could also just make them as plush toys. To make the paper donut stencil, I traced a CD, cut it out smaller, but cut the center out bigger. You can make them whatever size you like.

Getting Free Yarn & Crafting Materials for Charity
My family runs a small non-profit that teaches sustainability and self sufficiency to teens in low-income, high risk environments. We help teens become small time entrepreneurs to begin to support themselves using what they already have available or what can be cheaply gotten including knitting/crocheting, making cosmetics (soap and lotion), home goods (candles, afghans, quilts) and cooking.
Selling Wall to Wall Carpet Remnants
Our Parish has new good quality large remnant carpet pieces donated by a parishioner and we are trying to locate a company in town that will buy them. Are you able to connect us with such a company? We have not been successful at locating one online.

Re-dyeing Hair
I naturally have dark brown hair, 2 days ago I box dyed my hair trying to get a blondish caramel color, instead I got an ugly reddish brown. Would I be able to dye it again on top of that and finally get a color I want in this case burgundy since the other color didn't work out.
Back Child Support and Disability
I have recently been awarded SSD. Thankfully with help I have been able to pay child support during the time I was disabled. Once my children receive their back pay (which is greater than my child support obligation), is my ex-husband responsible to repay me the $20,000 I have paid from loans? Or am I out that money completely? I have so many people to reimburse and really need that money back.
Uses for Extra Carpet Pad
We have 4 rolls of new carpet pad left over from a project. Is there any use for it? Are there crafts it can be used for?
