Skrjabin, Aleksandr | Complete Piano Sonatas, Volume III Sonatas Nos. 6, 7, 8 | BARENREITER URTEXT Editor: Flamm, Christoph | BA 9618 | EUR 34.95 | 9790006536924 | No genre reflects Skrjabin's artistic evolution more vividly than his piano sonatas. Sonatas Nos. 6, 7 and 8 which are presented in this edition were written between 1911 and 1913, partly contemporaneously with the late Sonatas Nos. 9 and 10.
All autographs and printed sources including Skrjabin's sketches and drafts have been thoroughly evaluated. The edition presents a meticulously edited musical text offering new readings and is supplemented by an informative Preface on the sonatas' genesis and significance (Ger/Eng). The Critical Commentary (Eng) provides information on alternative readings and editorial decisions. An elegant well-presented engraving with practical page-turns rounds off this edition at the cutting edge of musical scholarship.

| Scholarly-critical Urtext edition at the cutting edge of musicology
Valuable notes on interpretation by Steffen Schleiermacher (Ger/Eng)
Well-suited for medium-level piano teaching |
|
Liszt, Franz | Piano Pieces from the Years 1880–1885 | BARENREITER URTEXT Editor: Kube, Michael | BA 10871 | EUR 18.95 | 9790006561599 | The significance of Liszt's late piano pieces has been the subject of much debate. On the one hand they are considered heralds of the elderly Liszt's waning inspiration; on the other hand, they are praised as being visionary pieces on the basis of their radical simplicity as well as bold harmonic language. This edition gathers together some of the pieces most revealing of Liszt's late style. As they are of moderate difficulty, they are also particularly suited for piano lessons.
The editor has consulted previously neglected sources and describes the genesis and source tradition of the pieces in the Foreword. The Critical Commentary provides information on alternative readings and editorial decisions. An elegant engraving, practical page turns and valuable performance suggestions by the acclaimed pianist Steffen Schleiermacher make this long-overdue new scholarly edition indispensable for pianists. |

| Urtext edition of Franck’s Violin Sonata in Franz Linden’s version for flute and piano
With an informative text part on the genesis and reception history of the violin sonata and the version for flute (Ger/Fr/Eng) |
|
Franck, Cesar | Sonata for piano and violin arranged for piano and flute | BARENREITER URTEXT | Score of the original version for piano and violin with inserted flute part Editor: Woodfull-Harris, Douglas | Arranger: Linden, Franz | BA 8738 | EUR 21.50 | 9790006575404 | Cesar Franck's Sonata for Piano and Violin is one of the most highly esteemed works in the violin literature, a masterpiece of cyclical form. With its grace and expressiveness it is virtually paradigmatic for the epoch of musical romanticism. The sonata was composed in 1886 and is dedicated to the Belgian violinist and composer Eugene Ysaye.
After Franck's death the publisher of the sonata's original edition, Julien Hamelle of Paris, supplied not only an additional version for piano and cello authorized by the composer (BA 10917), but other arrangements, including a version for flute prepared by Hamelle's in-house arranger Franz Linden (ca. 1910).
This Urtext edition for flute and piano is based on Linden's arrangement, a copy of which was only recently unearthed by the editor, and on the sources of the original Violin Sonata, especially for the piano part. Linden's version largely adopts the original violin part, with particular violin techniques rendered playable on the flute by means of alternative notes. In this way the sonata's characteristic qualities, including the highly cantabile solo part, sound perfectly natural on the flute, lending this version its special appeal.
An informative introduction by Gudula Schutz (Ger/Fr/Eng) on the genesis and reception history of the sonata as well as a Critical Commentary (Eng) round off the edition. |

Also suitable for organ lessons
With easy pedal parts |

Festive Romantic Organ Music Easy preludes and postludes of the 19th century | Performance score, Anthology | Editor(s): Rockstroh, Andreas | BA 11260 | EUR 22.95 | 9790006569922 | In the 19th century, many organ compositions were written as accompaniments to church services. They were intended for beginners and experienced organists alike. Michael Gotthard Fischer (1773-1829), Adolph Hesse (1809-1863) and Gustav Adolf Merkel (1827-1885) are among the most well-known composers of this kind of repertoire.
The edition contains pieces in standard keys, employing few accidentals and using moderate tempos. The short and easy-to-play compositions for everyday liturgical use have been conceived so that they can be mastered even by beginners in pedal playing. |

| Composition based on a well-known chorale melody
Effective stylistic emulation of French Romanticism
Enrichment of the organ repertoire for festive occasions |
|
Jong, Margaretha Christina de | Fantasia on "All People That on Earth Do Dwell" op. 109 | For organ | BA 11264 | EUR 18.95 | 9790006569724 | This fantasia for organ was composed in 2019. The composition is based on a melody attributed to the French composer Louis Bourgeois (approx. 1510-1560) which is one of the most well-known melodies in the Christian musical tradition. It has also been sung to various other texts, such as Lutheran chorales. In Bach's work, the melody appears in the cantata "Lord God, we praise Thee all of us" BWV 130.
The composer has retained the style of French Romanticism. The character of the work corresponds to the content of the text and culminates in a festive finale. This music is suitable for many church music occasions. |
